Charles Elmer “Charlie” Wellesley, 95 passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. Charlie passed away peacefully surrounded by family, leaving behind a legacy of faith, hard work, loyalty, and above all, love.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday, June 20, 2026, in the Minton Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the Stinnett Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors. Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to your favorite charity. The family will receive guests from 5-7 on Friday, June 19, 2026, at the funeral home
Charlie was born on September 21, 1930, in Jane, Missouri, to Everett and Geneva Ross Wellesley. He married Pat Stegall on September 10, 1965. Charlie retired from Phillips Petroleum Company after 40 years of service. He also owned and operated Charlies Garage in Phillips Texas.
Nothing brought Charlie more joy than his family. He faithfully supported his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren in everything they did. From baseball and softball games to rodeos, school programs, and special events, he was there whenever he could be, cheering from the stands and celebrating their accomplishments. He loved seeing his family together and was proud of each generation that followed. His presence and encouragement meant more than words could ever express.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Pat Wellesley; daughter, Peggy Manning; son-in-law, Donny Manning; son, Mikel “Buddy” Wellesley; and grandson, Clint Manning.
Charlie is survived by his children, Charlene and husband Darrell Cain of Stinnett, Ross and wife Donna Wellesley of Amarillo; daughter-in-law, Janet Wellesley of Borger; and sister, Sue Ketzler of Arkansas. Charlie is also survived by his grandchildren, Tracey (Jamie) Morman of Amarillo, Veronica (John) Davis of Borger, Richard (Ashley) Wellesley of San Antonio, Victor Green of Borger, Bree (Wes) Jameson of Blanchard Oklahoma, Nikki Hemphill of Borger, and Shane (Emily) Wellesley of Pampa. His legacy continues through his 17 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren
He also leaves behind his beloved nephews and niece, Vincent Ketzler, Jason and Sheila Ketzler; Shawn and Tammy Ketzler all of Arkansas, and Heidi Ketzler of Oklahoma, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
The family would like to thank the employees of Robbin’s Nest Assisted Living and BSA Hospice of the Southwest for all the love and care they showed Charlie.
