Charlie Lee Kerr

Charles “Charlie” Lee Kerr, 70, passed away Sunday, October 8, 2023.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at St. Andrew Methodist Church in Borger, with Mr. Arlin Audrain officiating. In lieu of flowers please honor his memory with a gift to the Small Fry Fishing Tournament Association, PO Box 2354, Fritch, Texas, 79036.

Charlie was born May 21, 1953, in Borger to Jesse Pearl Kerr and Delores Inez Vann Kerr.  He married Karen Rudisell on December 25, 1972, in Borger.  He obtained his bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University, he also held a self-proclaimed degree, Masters of Everything. Charlie retired as a superintendent from the Sid Richardson Carbon Black.

He was a large man with an even larger heart, that loved helping people.  Nothing brought more joy to his life than his family, he was truly invested in them.   Once he retired, he didn’t miss any of his grandkid’s activities. Charlie was an avid history and archeology buff of all things Texas Panhandle.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, taking his grandkids to the shooting range, camping, boating, good music, gardening, and cooking. Many people all over the Panhandle were recipients of his famous bread and soap.  He served on the board of the Small Fry Fishing Tournament Association, Hutchinson County Historical Commission, and the Friends of the Museum.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Jesse and Delores Kerr.

Those left to honor his legacy are his wife of 50 years, Karen of Borger; son, Daniel Kerr of Borger; daughter, Heather Kerr of Borger; grandchildren, Ireland Wagner and husband Kyler, Tristan Reinhart, Payton Reinhart (currently serving as an airman in the United States Air Force), Addelyn Reinhart, Breckyn Hamilton, Jaxson Kerr; great granddaughter, Emallyse Wagner and one due to arrive in April, Charlie Catherine; brother, Joe Kerr and wife Julie of Borger; sisters, Jimmie Kerr of Pueblo, Colorado, Mary Cox and husband Tom of Borger, Tina Briscoe and husband Mark of Borger; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family.
