Bob Snow

January 15, 1932 — February 16, 2022

C.W. (Bob) Snow

Clardy Wilburn (Bob} Snow passed from this life on Wednesday, February 16 at the age of 90 in Amarillo, Texas.  He was born on January 15, 1932 in Montague County, Texas near Bowie where he grew up and married Rose Latham.  In 1951, Bob and Rose moved to Borger, Texas where he drove a milk truck until employed by the Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America in Fritch, Texas in 1952.  In 1968, Bob and Rose purchased and began operating Snow’s Grocery on Main Street in Fritch until 1983 when he sold it and retired to pursue his love of hunting and fishing.

Bob loved the outdoors and spent as much time as possible hunting and fishing in the Texas Panhandle, Eagle’s Nest and Red River, New Mexico and in Colorado.  Bob was a member of the Fritch Church of Christ for seventy years as well as a Volunteer Fireman.  Bob was most often found in the back of his grocery store in the butcher shop where he meticulously cut meat and visited with customers.  He was often generous with those who needed food but could not pay.  Bob truly never met a stranger.  He loved people and they loved him.  He had a unique way of making everyone feel special. He was adored by his grandchildren and great grandchildren and brought love and laughter into the lives of those who knew him.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, William Richard Snow and Vera Paralee Goodrum Snow of Bowie, Texas; his sister Willie May Snow, his wife of sixty-six years, Rose Latham Snow; and many friends.  He is survived by his daughter, Susan Vermillion of Midland, Texas and her husband Tom; Cathy Shannon of Amarillo, Texas and her husband Johnnie; Tom Snow of Amarillo, Texas and his wife Lisa; his sister Nellie Nelson of Fritch, Texas; and his brother Bill Snow of Rolla, Missouri and his wife Kay. In addition, he is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.  Bob’s smile and quick wit will be missed by all those whose life he touched.

A viewing will be held at Minton’s Funeral home in Fritch Texas from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 18th and a celebration of Bob’s life will be held at the Fritch Church of Christ at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 19.  The family thanks everyone for their calls and kind support during this time of loss and, especially, thanks the staff at the Bee Hive Assisted Living facility in Amarillo for the love and care they showed Bob and his family during his stay there.
