Betty Jean Shuman

Betty Jean Shuman, 92, of Tomball, Texas passed away July 2, 2025. She was born August 15, 1932, in Anderson, Indiana to the late Frederick and Martha Hellems.

She is survived by her daughters Patricia LaBrie and Peggy Guenthner; son Stephen Shuman; sister Carolyn Burns; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Including her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Norman Shuman; son, Stuart Shuman; and four sisters Norma Isanogle, Shirley Hamilton, Virginia Cripps and Janet Allmond.

Betty and Norman served in the ministry pastoring several churches in Antlers, Oklahoma and Borger, Texas for over forty years. Betty always had a heart for missions and a particular passion for supporting Samaritans Purse’s “Operation Christmas Child” ministry. She worked year-round up until her passing to prepare shoebox Christmas gifts for children around the world. The past few years, while over 90 years old, she prepared 400+ shoeboxes annually.

The family plans a private service at a future date. Interment will be at Westlawn Memorial Park, Borger, Texas.
