Barbara Love, 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 1, 2025.
Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. In lieu of flowers her memory may be honored with a gift to Celebration Family Church, PO Box 1210, Fritch, Texas, 79036.
She was born on June 2, 1943, in Hutchinson County, Texas, to Jimmie Dean and Virginia Wright. Barbara married her high school sweetheart, Gordon McKinney, on July 11, 1961, at Fort Meade, Maryland. They were married almost 29 years before Gordon passed away on June 2, 1990. A few years after Gordon passed away, she literally found love again and married Jim Love on June 21, 1996, in Fritch, Texas.
Heaven will be inhabited by many people who weren’t famous or widely known on this earth but played an integral role in God’s kingdom during their life. However, she had a powerful ministry of praying for people, calling and “checking in” on people, and giving generously to others. Her gift of generosity was especially noticeable to those who knew her best.
Barbara was raised in church and, by own testimony, came to know Jesus as a young girl. Her love for Jesus remained throughout her life. She held several jobs during her career including being an administrative assistant at J.M. Huber Corporation and a substitute teacher at Borger High School.
Nothing brought more joy to her life than family, especially having spa days with her grandchildren. She enjoyed reading and was blessed with beautiful soprano vocal talent.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Gordon McKinney; her parents, Jimmie Dean and Virginia Wright; and her sister, Ileene Smith.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Jim Love of Fritch; sons, Monty McKinney of Amarillo, Tracy McKinney and wife Rowena of Amarillo; grandchildren, Bethany Akudike and husband John of Conroe, Faith Darnell and husband Jonathan of Elbert, Colorado, Samuel McKinney and wife Rachel of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and one great grandchild, Simeon Darnell.
