Watauga

Barbara Ann Bond Smith, born on May 21, 1940, in Dallas, Texas, passed away on June 28, 2025, in Watauga, Texas. Barbara was a devoted member of the Church of Christ.

In 1972, she moved to Borger, Texas. Barbara worked at Independent Machine and Industrial Machine, where she met her husband, Jerrall (Jerry) Smith. The couple's bond was encapsulated in their whimsical marriage on May 23, 2002, during a lunch break in Stinnett, Texas. Jerry, who joked about Barbara being much older than him, celebrated his birthday just one day after hers on May 22.

An avid NASCAR fan, Barbara enjoyed watching races, and she savored the tranquility of Lake Meredith, although she was not fond of swimming in its waters.

Barbara is survived by her beloved brother, David Wade, and his wife Janice; her sister-in-laws, Pat Wade, Becky Weber, and Debbie Smith; her daughter, Amy Smith-Wallace, and her husband Steven; her son, Philip “Bryson” Smith; her daughter, Wendy Smith; and her cherished grandchildren, Ryan Smith, Abigail Fleege and her husband Collin, and Cannon Wallace. Additionally, she leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and many loving family members of the heart.

Barbara is preceded in death by her father, A.D. Bond, who passed away when she was just 10 years old, and her mother, Attie Belle Denim-Bond, who died when she was 16. She was also preceded by her adopted parents, R.D. and Sybil Wade, her brothers Larry Wade, R.A. Wade, and A.D. (Buddy) Bond, along with her husband Jerrall (Jerry) Smith. She held a special place in her heart for her sister and brother not by blood, Catherine and Bob Kays, as well as her great-granddaughter, Violet Grace Fleege.

Barbara's life will be honored through a Funeral Service at Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors in Borger, Texas, on July 2, 2025, at 2:00 PM, followed by her burial at Highland Park Cemetery at 3:00 PM.
