Floyd Vance Robertson, 78, passed from this life to his new one with Christ on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019 in Borger, Texas.
Floyd was born in Phillips, Texas on Sept. 7, 1940. Floyd graduated from Phillips High School in 1959. He later received a master’s degree in Clinical psychology from North Texas University. He worked for Borger ISD for 28 years as a school psychologist.
Floyd’s parents built a roller rink in Sanford in 1950. In 1963, Floyd, his parents, the community & parents of skaters all came together to build the new Circle Roller Rink located on The Circle in Borger. Throughout the years, Floyd worked at both rinks and competed in all aspects of the sport including: hockey, speed-skating, dance, free-style & figure skating. In 1978, Floyd & Jonnie took over ownership of the Circle Rink and sold it in 2007. Many kids considered Floyd a father-figure and he treated them as his own. Floyd was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and an elder.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 57 years, Jonnie (Oswalt) Robertson; two sons, Joel Robertson & wife Janell; Daryl Robertson & wife Selena; three grandchildren, Hannah Vital & husband, Jesus; Jordan Robertson; & Lucas Robertson; & one great grandson, Ian Vital.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, June & Jack Robertson, and a brother, Kelly Steiner.
Visitation will be held at Minton-Chatwell Funeral Home on Sunday, Feb. 3, from 3pm-5pm. Graveside services will be held on Monday, Feb. 4 at 2pm at Westlawn Cemetery.

So saddened to hear of Floyd’s passing. What a great friend to know and work with for so many years. He always had a listening ear and we almost had to draw a number to see who could get into his office first on Friday afternoon at the HAC office. He gave unselfishly of himself to anyone who needed a word of encouragement or advice on an issue. Floyd was truly loved by all of us women who worked with him. My deepest sympathy to you, Jonnie, and your family. Heaven shines brighter tonight and what a reunion there will be when we all get there for our next staff meeting. See you at the House, Floyd.

My heart is heavy to hear of Floyd's passing. He was such kind and good man. As a psychologist he helped scores of children in Hutchinson, Armstrong, and Carson counties get their lives together. At the skating rink he and his family provided scores of children (including me) a safe and fun place to go every weekend. I bless his memory and look forward to seeing him in glory.

Floyd was an avid Bible student. He loved God's Word. He taught me much, not only as a small group leader but also by his example. Now he is standing in the presence of his Lord and Savior. I miss you, Floyd, already. See you soon!
