Daries Edward Witt, 90, died Thursday, January 28, 2010 in Amarillo. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Primitive Baptist Church with Rev. Leonard Forsythe, Pastor of Bible Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in the Stinnett Cemetery under the direction of Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Mr. Witt was born on March 17, 1919 in Love County, Oklahoma. He was a long time resident of Borger and Fritch and has been a resident of White Deer for 13 years. He was former owner of C & D Salvage in Stinnett and member of the Primitive Baptist Church in Borger. He served in the US Army during WW II. He married Ernest Dean McRae on October 20, 1945 in Wheeler. She preceded in death on June 3, 2000. He was also preceded in death by his grandson Mark Drake, two brothers one sister and his parents. In his younger years, he enjoyed boating and skiing, and in his later years he followed Nascar racing and loved his tobacco.
He is survived by his son – Dannis Witt and wife Janie of Carlsbad, N.M., a daughter - Diahana Hillman & husband Edwin of White Deer, three grandsons – Michael Drake of Everett, WA, Darick Witt and wife Missy of Borger, Casey Witt and wife Joey of Borger, four granddaughters – Dannett H. Henderson and husband Eric of Borger, Kristi Kerzee of Panhandle, Tina Strickland and husband Johnathan of Sundown, TX, Alana Sirmans and husband Josh of White Deer and thirteen Great-Grandchildren.
Casket bearers will be Darick Witt, Casey Witt, Eric Henderson, Johnathan Strickland, Josh Sirmans, Pete McGuire. Honorary bearers will be Michael Drake and Frankie Kreis. The family will be staying at 806 Texas in White Deer, TX.
