Eddie Truett Gates, 64 of Borger died Thursday September 28, 2017 in Borger. Memorial services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, October 3rd at Minton Memorial Chapel.
Truett was born February 17, 1953 in Spearman, TX to Eddie Ardell and Patsy (White) Gates. He worked in construction. He served in the US Army serving in VietNam. He loved to ride his motorcycle and Bald Eagles.
Truett is survived by his parents; his sons, Anthony and Jacob Gates of Fritch; daughter, Stephanie Gates of Borger; brother Mickey Gates of Hot Springs, Arkansas; sisters, Linda Dawson and husband, Jerry of Jackson, TN, Suzan Gates Vann of Borger, and Jan Gates Switzer of Corpus Christi, TX; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
My sincere condolences for Truett's family especially Stephanie. I took care of Truett from Oct '16 to June '17 as a home care provider. He did have amazing stories of Vietnam & different crazy adventures! He called me a few weeks before he passed, wanting me to hurry & get well from my back surgery so I could come back & take care of him because "I spoiled him." Glad to know I made a small difference in his life & in Stephanie's. Glad to know though that he is with God now & not suffering, like I had to watch him go through so much of. God Bless the family & fly high with the angels Truett's!

My family and I lived on the same 1100 block on Dressen Street in Spearman while we were all growing up. I was a year older than Truett. Many happy memories of us all playing together. I graduated from Spearman High School in 1970. I appreciated knowing Truett and remember him as a friend. So sorry for your loss.

We have only known Truitt for about 10 years after he and Steph moved across the street from us. We appreciated his outdoor morning coffee chats and wild stories about his misadventures in the 70s and 80s! He was a great neighbor and will be missed. Prayers to his family, especially Steph. We can't imagine one without the other. Rest in peace our friend where you can lnow live without chronic pain. . Jan and Jenny
